And this is a little bear on bicycle handles! I spotted him on my way to the Library, and the very nice guy riding the bic granted me permission to take a photo of him. The San Francisco show is hours away!

So, the day after the gig, I had a couple of hours to do whatever I fancied, before taking off to San Fran. I decided to walk over to the Seattle Public Library, because I am very fond of books. This was actually the first time that I'd gone ANYwhere other than the hotels, live venues, and airports, since the tour began, so just walking outside was exciting... how sad! lol I felt like Morgan Freeman in The Shawshank Redemption after he got out of jail. Cars! People bustling about freely! OMG! STORES! By the time I got to the Library I'd settled down, but I had a hard time finding it. I went in to a hotel to get directions, and was told that it was right across the street. Oh, THAT thing?! It doesn't look like a library at all; so damn modern... and cool. I'd heard it was famous for its architecture but this exceeded my expectations. I had a REALLY good time there. So glad I went! My excitement climaxed when I stumbled upon these books on the top floor, in a special section of historic documents. "Catholic Church Records of the Pacific Northwest"---it's an endless list of who married whom (a white guy marrying "Walla Walla woman" who cannot sign her name so puts an "x" instead, etc), who died, who was born and baptized, etc etc---which for some reason had me mesmerized, nailed to the ground, reading away. I couldn't get enough of it. After that I went to a couple of bookstores, BORDERS and Barnes & Nobles, to buy an old Nabokov novel to read instead. (I was impressed by the huge manga sections in both stores.) Oh those Church Records... I wish I could've borrowed them, for the road.

I'm sure you've seen this picture already in my Japanese message but I'm posting this in english too anyway, just because I am so proud of my artwork :) Yep, KUMABUCKS! I am having too much fun.

Had another great night, came back to the hotel, and I'm ready to hit the sack... but no wait!! The Australian Open... I have to check who's playing tonight Damn!! It's Nadal!! I have to see this... ooh but I'm tired and sleepy and so ready to sleep... but no, I have to watch this...! Anyway, I wanted to say Good Night to everyone, wherever you are and whatever you may be--- but especially, to the guys that were waiting outside the Showbox after the show tonight. I'm sorry, I didn't know that you were all waiting for me there (down the dark alley...) until I got in the car and it started off, I felt a little bad about it. And so, here it is, Good Night!

Or rather, Birthday Woman! Hello hello, it's my 27th birthday today! Thank you for all the comments and fan letters and fanmail, your words ring through me :) I hope everybody has been having a good start-of-the-new-year so far. Me, personally, I've just kicked off my first North American (+London) tour, and I am very excited about this small venue adventure. It's something I've always wanted to do, I know some places sold out really quickly and there were lots of requests and suggestions to move to bigger venues, but I wanted these shows to be intimate... The first show, in Honolulu, was, my god, I hadn't done a concert in 3 and a half years, so I had no idea how it would go, but fortunately it was a big success, thanks to the warm welcome and energy of my fans! I really do have a good band and great people on sound systems to work with, too. We're going to improve and enhance our show as we carry on. Again thank you to everyone who showed up, we had a good time didn't we? Today is the second show, here in Los Angeles, at the House of Blues on the Sunset strip. I know it's raining cats and dogs out there today, and I know LA isn't the best city when it comes to dealing with rain... so I hope everyone gets there safely, and I hope people don't have to wait in line outside too long! Wish me luck on my first ever birthday show :) Later!
